The Kansas City Royals asked Buddie Butterfield to sit in the honorary "Buck O'Neill Legacy Seat" on Friday evening, July 22. Mr. Butterfield, the Founder of Buddie's Buddies Adaptive Golf, was honored for his hard work and dedication, serving area children, adults and veterans with physical and/or mental challenges. Buddie's Buddies is a 501 C-3 non-profit organization, whose purpose is to enhance the personal and physical growth of its participants with disabilities.

In 2007, Buddie's Veterans Adaptive Golf Clinics was developed with the full support of the Kansas City VA Hospital. Golf can be learned and enjoyed by anyone, regardless of age or disability, gender or economic status, therefore, we need your help to expose and involve more disabled veterans and active-duty personnel injured in the line of duty, to our adaptive golf programs.

INDEPENDENCE, Missouri -The Missouri Mavericks in conjunction with the Central Hockey League (CHL) announced the game tomorrow, Tuesday, February 1 between the Mavericks and Wichita Thunder at Independence Events Center has been postponed due to impending inclement weather. The Mavericks will leave for Colorado early for their game against the Eagles on Wednesday, March 2 to ensure only one game will be cancelled. Tuesday's home game has been rescheduled for Tuesday, March 22 at Independence Events Center at 7:05 p.m.

All tickets purchased for the game this Tuesday will be honored on March 22.

The game was scheduled as Mac's Birthday in which the first 2,000 fans will receive a Mac bobblehead, and the game on the 22nd will be celebrated as Mac's Belated Birthday. All promotions for the game this Tuesday will be moved to the game on March 22.

Independence Events Center hosts Men’s Hockey Border Showdown

INDEPENDENCE, MO. (JANUARY 14, 2011) – Over the years, the anticipation of intense athletic competition between the University of Missouri and University of Kansas has created unrivaled fan enthusiasm. The Independence Events Center, Eastern Jackson County’s state-of-the-art, 5,800 fixed-seat sports and entertainment venue, will once again host the sticks and puck version of the 2011 Men’s Hockey Border Showdown when Mizzou Hockey takes on KU Men’s Hockey Club at the events center on Thursday, January 20 at 7:05 p.m. Fans are invited to arrive early and see the KC Stars take on the KC Outlaws Junior and Varsity Teams pre / post games beginning at 4:45 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and available exclusively through Ticketmaster.

Chiefs Prepare New Arrowhead for Wild Card Game

Preparations for this weekend’s AFC Wild Card Game are underway at the New Arrowhead. Today, members of the Chiefs grounds crew painted the Wild Card Weekend logo on the field and tomorrow, the Chiefs store will begin stocking the Wild Card weekend merchandise. The game will mark the first home playoff game for the Chiefs since the 2003 season.

The Chiefs are expecting the largest crowd of the season and are encouraging fans to arrive early via bus and carpool. The heaviest traffic will be from 10:30 a.m until noon, so fans are asked to arrive prior to 10:30 to avoid peak times. Access to parking lots will begin at 8:30 a.m.

“Carpooling with friends is a great option to ensure you get into the lot quickly and are able to tailgate in the same location with friends,” said David Young, Vice President of Stadium Operations for the Chiefs, “Fans who arrive during those peak times risk not making it to their seats before kickoff.”

David Sweet will be at Barnes & Noble to sign his book "Lamar Hunt: The Gentle Giant who Revolutionized Professional Sports," on Saturday Nov. 20, at Barnes & Noble on the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City on West 47th Street from 10 a.m -Noon and at the Barnes & Noble in Independence, Mo. from in 4 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Lamar Hunt was the founder of both the Kansas City Chiefs and the AFL, which later merged with the NFL to form one of the most successful leagues in history. The book covers the many interests in Hunt's life and business ventures.

Tennis Courts at Rotary Park at Railroad Lake Reopen

The tennis courts at Rotary Park at Railroad Lake are now open to the public. Located at 600 NW Vesper, the courts recently underwent surface crack repairs and received a new color coating.

These repairs are part of routine maintenance and upkeep associated with tennis courts. Proper maintenance ensures that the park facilities stay in optimal condition.
